Improvement

Years ago, for a competition on mapcore.net I made this little beauty. It was one of my first models:






Now I'm a bit better, and I wanted to make something similar to submit to Valve for TF2. True facts: the hook on the back was used by the scotts to pull people off horse back and scale castle walls!

Desolation RC1 Released

I released the first 'release candidate' version of RC1 a few weeks ago. Forgot to post about it here since no one reads this :) If you have the pb1, b2, or b2a versions please switch to this.


Actually, I checked TF2 stats yesterday and it seems koth_desolation_rc1 is the most popular version so perhaps people noticed and switched. Still, I'm going to have to track down the servers running old versions one of these days. One thing that will help will be when I make the special prophunt version. I still can't believe desolation got added to that mod (and that the guy never told me about it). At any rate, more people are playing it than ever before so that's awesome.

Desolation was also supposed to be used in a koth league but I'm not sure if that ever went forward, if anyone knows please let me know!

Desolation Beta 2.5 Released!

Well I've updated desolation to version 2.5 now. People really didn't like the color correction, and I can't blame them, so I removed it and I updated the map text and menu photos. Please go check it out! And if you have a server running either the _pb1 or _b2 versions please switch it to _b2a. Enjoy!

The Portal will open in...

For years I've been thinking to myself that I needed a blog though I did not want to create anything too mundane and self indulgent. Inspired by the TF2 blog (among others) I've finally put one together. I plan on posting short articles and tutorials about level design, scripting, and environment art as well as giving behind the scenes looks at the production on my various game projects.

One such project is a single player campaign I've begun working on recently, and while I haven't touched Hammer in over a week due to being ill and the 4th of July weekend, I did put together a short gameplay video awhile back, which you can see below.
